Expert Support (https://expertsupport.com) is creating a training program for the next generation of technical writers. As part of that effort, we’re inviting members of our community who are working on API documentation to participate in our first ever course that is open to outside participants.

Do you aspire to be a world-class API reference writer?

If so, this course is for you: Let’s Write an API Reference

The cornerstone of effective documentation for software developers is the API reference. This course gives you the know-how and skills you need to create the most effective API reference possible.

This course delivers essential skills for API reference writers. In it, you learn skills central to:

  • Planning: Know what needs to be done, set priorities, manage expectations, and hit milestones.
  • Collecting information: Know where to find the info you need, and how to work with engineers efficiently.
  • Organizing content: Know what structure to use based on your API specifics.
  • Improving usability: Get the most out of tools, and leverage best practices.
  • Delivering quality documentation: Learn what makes a great reference, and how to get there.

And more!

Check out the course description for more information. To participate, follow the instructions found there. We hope to launch our first class this fall (timing TBD).
